There is no boredom in Elten!

The free life between water and woods is an experience in itself, especially for city kids. Where else can they swim in the lake yet, paddle on an air mattress or row as often as they (or daddy) want?

Where can they still see and catch frogs and fireflies, or have some fishing time alone? Even in the forest, there is much to discover, especially for the older children who can explore the surroundings on their own.

But there's a variety of things to do in the area. The Xantener Nordsee has a great beach area, in Kleve there's a climbing forest, the Tivoli Park in Berg en Dal, or the family amusement park Wonderland Kalkar. In late summer, you can get lost in various corn mazes and all year round romp over in Irrland at Kevelaer, where kids can slide or climb in hay and straw or in the water.

The archaeological park in Xanten is always worth a visit. Here you can learn all about the Romans and there are always fun activities for children.

You can have some action with a handcar ride from Kleve to Groesbeck, paddling on the river Niers or water skiing and wakeboarding in Strombroek/Doetinchem.

Young and old animal friends will absolutely love the Burgers Zoo in Arnhem (named after its founder Johan Burgers - sorry folks, it's not about eating!). In a single day, you can make a safari around the world!

But you can also enjoy some more modest leisure time: How about having a game of mini golf in Eltenberg and then a visit at the pancake house, both in walking distance from our cottage? For every pancake, children get a cuddly toy as a gift, which they may choose from the hundreds that are there in the decoration itself. (Plan in some extra time for this - sometimes it can take a little longer!)
